This Man Built a Personal Cell Tower

A few years ago I was working at an ad agency in Salt Lake City and one of my clients was Ciena. This client was a huge company, focusing on networking systems, optical cabling, undersea cabling, and a whole lot more in those fields. They’re a huge company, and working with them was always a fun challenge each day. During my time with them as my client, I managed huge PPC campaigns in several languages and countries, wrote a lot of technical documents, and did a bit of ghost writing for their corporate blog.

The most interesting blog piece I was able to write was on how to build your own cell tower. One of Ciena’s brilliant employees had done just that, and his notes and steps were turned over to me to be used for creating a blog post. That post can be found here: https://www.ciena.com/insights/articles/How-I-built-my-own-mobile-cell-tower-prx.html

Today, some of those steps might be a little dated as far as the technology goes, but it’s still fascinating to read how a determined engineer can look at a problem and turn it into an opportunity to do something cool.
